Presidency Orders Opening Of Maritime University In Delta

Osinbajo Visits Uyo, Assures Residents Of Sustainable DevelopmentIn furtherance of its drive towards the restoration of peace in the Niger Delta, the Presidency has directed the Ministry of Education to start the process of opening the Nigerian Maritime University located in Delta State for the 2017-2018 academic year.
To this end, the Minister of Education has been mandated to head a five-man inter-agency committee to coordinate the process, and this comes as a follow-up action to the recent presidential engagements with the oil-producing communities.
A statement by the office of the vice president explains that the Muhammadu Buhari administration is also working to evolve a number of robust strategies for the development of the area.
They include community-based participation in pipeline protection and policing in collaboration with prominent groups such as the Pan-Niger Delta forum, as well as oil-producing communities.
Meanwhile, The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, is billed to conclude his fact-finding tours to the region soon with visits to cross river and Ondo States.
