India’s Sushma Swaraj thanks Pakistan on Uzma’s return

NEW DELHI: Indian Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has extended her gratitude to Pakistan on return of Indian woman Uzam, who married to a Pakistani man and was granted permission by Islamabad High Court to go back to her home.
Uzma, escorted by Pakistani security officials and Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan returned to India Thursday via Wagah Border, where was reunited with the family.
Later, she headed to New Delhi where she called on Sushma Swaraj.
Speaking to media in New Delhi, Swaraj, flanked by Uzma, said, “"I want to thank the foreign ministry and the home ministry of Pakistan. If Uzma is with us today, they have a role too."
The Indian Minister also acknowledged the role played by Pakistani courts in Uzma's return.
However, Uzma profusely thanking Ms Swaraj at the press meet, alleged: "Pakistan is a death trap. Women, not even men are safe there."
Touching Swaraj’s feet, a traditional gesture of respect in India, Uzma added, "I have been really lucky as there are many girls over there who are abused and harassed but they are not able to get out."
"For the first time I felt as if my life too has a value," she added.
