We hear that residents and landlords of Iju-Ishaga, Lagos state who lost property and loved ones during the June 3, 2012, Dana airline crash have the right to claim above the $100,000 peg for air travelers.
Aside the 20 people who died on the spot, more than 10 buildings were destroyed when the Dana Airline plane crashed.
Residents of Iju-Ishaga, Lagos, a Lagos suburb, who were victims of Dana Air plane crash will be fully compensated according to aviation laws and regulations.
While Dana Airline has commenced payment of compensation to relatives of some passengers on board the plane, nothing much has been done to property owners and those who lost their lives when the plane came down.
We hear that those who lost their loved ones and property are entitled to claim beyond $100,000.
Also, the residents of Iju-Ishaga, Lagos, who were victims of Dana Air plane crash will be fully compensated according to aviation laws and regulations.
"They can claim more than $100,000. In fact, their claim is unlimited under the law. But they may have to go to court to claim those rights. A property owner may say it cost me N50 million to build my house and the airline may offer N5 million. The court is there to resolve such issues.
The Lagos State Judiciary, probate registry department, in a memo dated January 11, 2013, stated that the department was ready to fast-track the entire process of issuing letters of administration to relatives of the victims.
The letter also stated that the mandatory 10 percent statutory fees payable on letter of administration would be waived.
